Procession by Jeremy Deller.

Some photos from Turner Prize Winner Jeremy Deller’s public event Procession that took place along Deansgate in central Manchester at 2pm on Sunday 5 July 2009. Commissioned and produced by Manchester International Festival and Cornerhouse. With participants drawn from across Greater Manchester, Procession represents what Jeremy describes as ‘northern social surrealism’, combining social clubs, special interest groups, Rose Queens, Modified Car Nuts, The Worlds First Chippy, a Scout Band performing The Falls' 'Hit The North', hearses containing flower wreathes remembering local pubs, bars and nightclubs and 'The Best Dressed Dude In Bury' Tony Hilton. A great day was had by all and it's been my pleasure to work with Jeremy and the gang over the past few months!
